October 2005

Concrete Sky is currently finishing their second album (a 3-year project!) and not performing live shows.

July 2004

The band is taking it down a notch on the gigs to devote more time to writing new material. As you can see by the schedule we're due for a little break -- but not too long! We have scattered one-niters booked into December 2004, including a couple music festivals. Be sure to come to Jillian's by 9:30 Thursday, July 29th for the Budweiser Band Competition!

June 2004

Busy, busy, busy.  Concrete Sky's been on the road back and forth to New York a few times competing in Touring 495. We made it to the semi-finals. We also played a few new venues in Long Island and NYC while up there, made some new friends and had a great time.

March 2004

Concrete Sky has entered an Artist Development agreement with Loren Israel (Capitol Records, Coldplay, Beck, Jimmy Eats World). Loren is going to help the band  get their 3rd album ready for primetime. Concrete Sky's 2nd album is still in the works at Windmark Recording. It should be ready this summer.

Most songs form the Glow CD have reached
#1 at Soundclick.com (see front page). The phones have been ringing off the hooks with offers, and the bookings keep coming in.

The CD Release Party at the Jewish Mother went well. Deciding Factor kicked off the evening with a strong set. Good times were had by all.

February 2004

2000 copies of Concrete Sky's CD, Glow, arrived and are ready for distribution. The band is also entering into an agreement with Statue Records in Los Angeles for radio and retail distribution this summer.

January 2004

This was a big month for the band. Concrete Sky chartered a bus and took all their friends, including one of our favorite Hampton Roads band, Metropolis, to New York for the weekend. Thanks to their support, and our new friends in Long Island, Concrete Sky won the night and will continue in the Touring 495 band competitions! Concrete Sky performed with some of New York's finest bands at The Village Pub South.

Several more songs hit #1 on the Soundclick charts, including "Glow" and "The Mom Song"

December 2003

"Drinking Again" hits #1 on Rock Charts at www.SoundClick.com

"Desert Ice" hits #1 on Alternative Charts at www.SoundClick.com

Concrete Sky, is currently turning ears and capturing the fancy of rock music fans and critics worldwide with their first album "Glow."

Concrete Sky has recently teamed with internet-based site Soundclick.com (a music website that features both signed and unsigned bands) and two of Bob's songs "Drinking Again" and "Desert Ice" are currently listed as two of the sites' top downloaded songs in the Rock and Alternative categories.
This is quite an accomplishment! Soundclick adds over 40,000 songs from 5,000 bands per month on their site where you will find well-known artists such as Janet Jackson, Sarah McLachlan, Moby, Phil Collins, Peter Gabriel, Kate Bush. They also offer thousands of great unsigned bands like Concrete Sky looking for their big break.

The band's music continues to create real excitement. "Drinking Again" is currently the number one downloaded Rock song and "Desert Ice" is the number four downloaded
Alternative song! Go have a listen and help keep Concrete Sky on top by visiting http://www.soundclick.com and downloading Concrete Sky's songs.

If you're a music-lover you find tons of great bands and full-length songs there. All songs are available in streaming audio in up to near CD quality, and most of the songs are also available as free legal MP3 downloads. More
features? They also have ad-free radios, videos, chats, message boards, news, charts, sweepstakes, and more on their site.

October 2003

Concrete Sky takes a needed break in October and prepares for a busy winter schedule.

September 2003

Between the concert dates, and recording their 2nd CD, Concrete Sky has been hard at work!  The release of the first CD, GLOW was postponed pending negotiations with a record label. The band reached a decision and will enter into a marketing partnership with Fraternity Records and Sony will begin manufacturing the CDs in early December 2003. Sky Club Members will receive the full CD rather than the 4 song pre-release.

June 2003

Just added: GLOW, Concrete Sky's long awaited debut CD is complete! Release dates is June 27th. Get your copy at any of our shows,  or ask for it at your local record store.  Online ordering soon to come. In the meantime, listen to 5 of the tracks on MP3. Click here.

New concert dates announced.

Concrete Sky to perform at the Rock n' Roll Marathon. August 31st  in Virginia Beach  with the Goo Goo Dolls.   Check  back for details and times.

In addition to June 27th concert on the beach (see below), Concrete Sky is scheduled to appear at the
Chesapeake Art Festival at Ocean View Park. They love playing on the water!  Special guests, Quang-T and Bandamit will be there to make sure it's a rock'n weekend. The shows are from 12 - 5 PM, August 16th and 17th.  Bring your bathing suits and make a weekend of it.

The band is taking July off to record  their next CD at Windmark Studios.  The new songs are harder rocking than the current CD, but still full of their trademark melodic riffs and Bert's dominating vocals.

April 2003

Getting Ready for Summer!

Concrete Sky's been hard at work  bringing new tunes into the live show for the last couple months. The band is also looking for professional management and a producer or co-producer for the next CD. Other performance dates are under negotiation for the summer. The 24th Street Pavilion show in Virginia Beach, VA is confirmed and scheduled for June 27th from 8 PM - 10:30PM. Another outdoor show at Ocean View Park, Norfolk, VA, is anticipated for mid-August.

Concrete Sky is featured in two music publications this month, a  two-page spread in Splash Magazine and Switchboard,  a UK publication.  Switchboard featured Concrete Sky in their International Roll or Honour.
Splash Magazine has an online archive at http://www.splashmag.org/

Sky Club is growing very quickly, and the new CDs should be completed very soon for shipment. The response is much greater than expected, and the band hopes to see everyone soon.

February 2003

Concrete Sky debuts for sold-out auditorium in Virginia Beach, VA.

There wasn't an empty seat in the house when the boys came on stage. Croswell's performance was nothing short of explosive. Where does he get  his unstoppable energy?  It's pure genetics. Pictures coming soon.

The band  wants to say  a special "hello" to our new friends in the UK.  Concrete Sky is  getting a lot of emails from the other side of the pond and it's appreciated! The band is excited about  bringing the show to the UK in the near future.

January 2003

Promo CD is ready for press

Concrete Sky rehearsals are getting tighter and tighter, and have completed mixdowns for a three song promo CD. After several revisions, a few new tracks Blackdoor, Coffee and a Cigarette and Glow are ready to go. All three songs are getting great reviews from  people of all ages. The band is psyched and ready to take the show on the road. The songs are available for download in the Music section of this site.

New logo

SimóneGraphics sent their  first round of logo designs. Look for  the final  logo soon!

Video planned

Concrete Sky is scheduled to begin shooting  a  video March 2nd. Part of the video will be live footage from a concert performance at  Cape Henry  Collegiate School in Virginia Beach.

October 2002

KK Barnes  joins Concrete Sky in the studio.

KK , formally of recording artists, Laughing Buddha from Colorado,  brings a lot to the table for Concrete Sky.  In addition to his keyboard skills, he's worked as a producer and has learned  from some of the top recording engineers in the country.

For the last few days,  Chris (Serrano) , has been re-recording drum tracks for old an new songs.  We felt it would better to have all tracks recorded by actual band members (some tracks we're originally  recorded by studio drummer, Brian Jones).  KK Barnes' assistance in the engineering makes a very noticeable improvement in the quality of the drum sounds. The kick and snare sounds are smoking!

Speaking of smoking, Bert Croswell is spending some time in the vocal booth.  Look for an updated version of "Coffee and a Cigarette" very soon. the new version fixes a strange glitch in the lead vocal track and adds a harmony vocal.

September 2002

After spending almost  two years in the studio, Concrete Sky is now rehearsing for live performances. After a year of auditioning local talent,  original members, Bert Croswell, Dan Foster and RJ Hembree are joined by Mike Fellers on guitar and Chris Serrano on Drums. We'd like to thank all that took the time to audition for Concrete Sky. There is an incredible amount of talent in the Hampton Roads area, and the decision was tough. We made our final choices based on skill, experience, personality, reliability, energy, playing style and level of commitment.

Concrete Sky's first CD is near completion. A four song CD will precede the full length CD. A limited quantity of the free CD will be available to members of our fan club.  To join, click here.  We are also making the songs available to the public in mp3 format.

We'd like to thank for Mike Calcagni for his engineering assistance during recording and rehearsal sessions.

Ronni Marcus has joined the team to handle public relations. Not even the sky is the limit now!
